Wang Xudong      

Wang Xudong, a native of Yancheng, Jiangsu Province, was born in January 1946. He joined the Communist Party of China (CPC) in 1972 and graduated from the Tianjin Institute of Science and Technology for Further Studies in 1982, as a major of engineering.

Wang formerly worked as secretary of the Chinese Communist Youth League Committee and deputy secretary of the CPC Committee of No. 1418 Research Institute of the Chinese People's Liberation Army, director of No. 18 Research Institute of the Ministry of Electronics Industry, a member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Tianjin Municipal Committee, and director of its Organization Department. In October 1991, he began serving as deputy secretary of the CPC Tianjin Municipal Committee. In May 1993, he was reelected deputy secretary of the CPC Tianjin Municipal Committee at the First Session of the Sixth CPC Tianjin Municipal Committee. Later he was transferred to the post of deputy director of the Organization Department of the CPC Central Committee. He is an alternative member of the 15th CPC Central Committee. Since June 2000, Wang has been working as a member of the Standing Committee and secretary of the CPC Hebei Provincial Committee.

In January 2003 he became vice minister of the Information Industry.

In March 2003 he was appointed minister of Information Industry.

He is an alternate member of the 15th CPC Central Committee and member of the 16th CPC Central Committee.
