Liang Baohua      

Governor of Jiangsu Province

Liang Baohua, a native of Yichun, Jiangxi Province, was born in November 1945. He graduated from the Journalism Department of Fudan University. He joined the Communist Party of China (CPC) in November 1965 and began work in August 1968.

He worked in the office of the CPC Jiangsu Provincial Committee in December 1975. In November 1977, he worked in the Policy Research Office, General Office of the Ministry of Light Industry and Work Group of the Ministry of Light Industry stationed in Shanghai Municipal Light Industry Bureau.

He served as secretary of the Secretariat under the General Office of the CPC Jiangsu Provincial Committee and the General Office of the provincial government in November 1981. He served as deputy head of the General Office of Jiangsu Provincial Party Committee in October 1983. From December 1985 to June 1993, he was head of the General Office of Jiangsu Provincial Party Committee.

He successfully served as deputy secretary-general and secretary-general of the Jiangsu Provincial Party Committee from June 1993 to June 1998. Since 1994, he has been standing committee member of Jiangsu Provincial Party Committee, and concurrently he was secretary of the CPC Suzhou Municipal Committee from June 1998 to December 2000, deputy secretary of the CPC Jiangsu Provincial Committee from September 2000 to December 2002, and vice governor of Jiangsu from December 2000 to December 2002.

He was acting governor of Jiangsu in December 2002 and elected as governor of Jiangsu at the first session of the tenth Jiangsu Peoples Congress in February 2003.

He is alternate member of the 16th CPC Central Committee.
