Shi Xiushi      

Governor of Guizhou Province

Shi Xiushi, a native from Shangqiu City in central China's Henan Province, was born in July 1942. He started work in October 1964 and joined the CPC in November 1978. He graduated from the Beijing Architectural and Civil Engineering Institute with a college degree in engineering.

Oct. 1964-Nov. 1980: Technician and engineer at the Construction Materials Research Institute and vice director of the research office.

Nov. 1980-June 1986: Vice director in charge of building materials with the Heavy Industry Bureau under the State Economic Commission.

Jun. 1986-May. 1988: Vice director and director of the State Council's Tourism Coordination Group Office.

May 1988-Aug. 1996: Vice director and director of the No. 2 Secretariat under the General Office of the State Council.

Aug. 1996- Dec. 2000: Deputy secretary-general of the State Council.

Dec. 2000: Member, standing committee member and deputy secretary of the CPC Guizhou Provincial Committee.

Jan. 2001: Vice governor and acting governor of Guizhou.

Jan. 17, 2001: Elected as governor of Guizhou at the fourth session of the 9th Guizhou People's Congress.

Jan. 2003: Re-elected as governor of Guizhou at the first session of the 10th Guizhou People's Congress.

He is currently serving as a member of the 16th CPC Central Committee.
