While improving its legal systems, China must try to advance its national development to encourage the national spirit, according to a member of China's top advisory body.
Zhang Lichen, a member of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, said, “We must guide people to set a correct moral concept in order to prevent and reduce crimes.”
He noted that cultural progress must be taken as a strategy. He warned that the outstanding traditional culture of the Chinese nation is losing its influence gradually among the younger generation, whereas “foreign garbage” is publicized as an advanced culture.
“So, we must have a clear idea of what is the ’cream’ and what is the ’dreg',” he said.
