The Fifth Session of the Ninth National People's Congress (NPC) received a record number of 1,194 bills and motions as of 6:00 p.m. on March 10, the deadline for submitting bills and motions.
According to officials in charge of handling bills and motions from deputies and delegations, the bills and motions cover a wide range of areas, such as bills for enacting and revising laws and regulations, and proposals on promoting the country's economic growth and social progress.
The total number of bills and motions will be officially announced by the presidium of the current NPC annual session on March 13.
The number of bills and motions this year is the largest ever since the first session of Ninth NPC convened in 1998. In the 2001 session, 1,040 bills and motions were submitted.
