Chinese vice-president Hu Jintao Thursday urged government officials to care for the well-being of the people and do their best to improve their living standards.
He made the call after hearing views and voices at a panel discussion of NPC deputies from Guizhou Province attending the annual session of the Ninth National People's Congress.
Caring for the well-being of the people is a manifestation of upholding the nature and purpose of the Party and fulfilling the requirements of the "three represents'" idea, Hu said. "It is the necessary demand for keeping closer the flash-blood relations between the Party and the people and for mobilizing the
initiatives and creativity of the people; it is also the burning demand for raising the purchasing power, expanding effective domestic demand and stimulating economic growth."
He said that it is necessary to accelerate development in order to resolve the problems with the living of the people.
Officials at all levels must faithfully implement the Party's policies and do solid work to help people ease their difficulties.
