The 16th meeting of the Standing Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) National Committee ended in Beijing Thursday.
Li Ruihuan, chairman of the CPPCC National Committee, presided over and addressed the meeting.
Over the last three days, the meeting approved a number of reports on key issues including personnel matters and the agenda for the coming annual session of the Ninth CPPCC National Committee, which is to begin on March 3.
Nineteen people became new members of the CPPCC National Committee, while four members, Wang Meiyue, Bai Shangxian, Jin Shuzeng and Liu Deyuan, were expelled from the top advisory body for their violation of laws.
Also present at the closing session were 24 vice chairmen of the CPPCC National Committee.
