Chinese President Jiang Zemin met with Edmund Ho Hau Wah, chief executive of the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) on Monday.
Ho is in Beijing attending the fourth session of the Ninth National People's Congress.
Jiang said that the Macao SAR government headed by Edmund Ho Hau Wah has won the trust and support from the public. Macao has achieved social stability and economic recovery since its return to the motherland.
He expressed his hope that the Macao SAR government continues its efforts in economic development and social stability with the support of people from all walks of life.
Chinese Vice-Premier Qian Qichen and Director of the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of the State Council Liao Hui, were present at the meeting.
