Three senior Chinese leaders joined panel discussions of the current annual CPPCC session Sunday.
They were Chinese Vice-President Hu Jintao, member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Central Committee the Communist Party of China (CPC) Wei Jianxing and Chinese Vice-Premier Li Lanqing.
Hu Jintao urged the participants in the CPPCC session to make further contributions to the country's progress in this century by making more comments and raising proposals on state affairs.
Facts have shown that it is of great significance to uphold and improve the multi-party cooperation and political consultations under the leadership of the CPC, and cooperation between the CPC and other non-Communist parties and friends, said the vice-president, who is also member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Central Committee.
He said efforts should be made to increase the awareness of the CPC and its leading cadres in further cooperating with other parties and friends, and expand the areas for political consultation, and show initiative to accept the oversight by CPPCC members.
In another panel discussion with CPPCC members with trade union background and women's organization, Wei Jianxing called for more attention and help to workers in need.
Wei stressed the importance to safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of workers and bring their initiative into full play.
Vice-Premier Li Lanqing, who is also member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Central Committee, told another panel discussion that governments at all levels should invest more in the development of culture and arts and sports and provide them with correct guidance.
