A grand concert was held in Chongqing city on June 14, raising the curtain on the celebration to mark the 10th anniversary of the city being named as China's fourth municipality.

Nearly ten thousand local people went to the Liberates Stele Pedestrian Street to take part in the carnival. The concert was hosted by veteran Chinese dubbing artists Qiao Zhen and Ding Jianhua. Ballad queen Li Guyi performed several of her most popular numbers as well as a song written specially for Chongqing.

A fireworks show illuminated the sky of Chongqing. The audiences were entertained and several times, they even joined in with the songs they knew.
 
10 years ago, the city was authorized to upgrade to become the fourth municipality together with Beijing, Shanghai and Tianjin.
