The National Committee of the tenth Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), China's top political advisory body, will hold its fifth session on March 3.
The date was agreed upon at the 41st meeting of the chairman and vice-chairpersons of the Tenth National Committee of the CPPCC which was held in Beijing on Friday, presided over by Jia Qinglin, chairman of the CPPCC National Committee.
It was also decided at the meeting that CPPCC vice-chairman Huang Mengfu will deliver a work report at the session on the handling of proposals of deputies during the year, on behalf of the Standing Committee of the Tenth CPPCC National Committee.
The meeting also decided to have Wu Jianmin, former Chinese ambassador to France serve as the media spokesperson at this year's CPPCC session.
The meeting also decided who will be the secretary-general, deputy secretary-general of the CPPCC annual session.
This year's annual "two sessions" of the Nation People's Congress (NPC) and the CPPCC will focus on mobilizing the nation to build a harmonious society. The NPC and the CPPCC sessions will also lay groundwork in advance of the 17th National Congress of Communist Party of China, according to the meeting.
The meeting also decided the 16th session of the Standing Committee of the Tenth CPPCC National Committee will be held from Feb. 26 to 28, to make preparations for the upcoming annual CPPCC session.
