Raising the Red Lanterns
Adjust font size:  ZoomIn ZoomOut

Red lanterns are hung at the intersection of Nanjing Road W. and Shaanxi Road as Shanghai begins to get ready for the Spring Festival, which marks the start of a new lunar year. Red lanterns are a traditional decoration during China's biggest holiday period, which begins on February 18, ushering in an especially auspicious Year of the Golden Pig.
