Guo Jinlong was elected secretary of east China's Anhui provincial committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) on Monday.
Guo, 59, was elected to the post at the first plenary session of the eighth CPC provincial committee.
Guo, of Han nationality, hails from Nanjing, capital of east China's Jiangsu Province. He joined the CPC in April 1979.
Guo received a bachelor's degree in physics from Nanjing University and began working as a technician in 1969.
He is a member of the CPC Central Committee and has served as secretary of the Anhui Provincial Committee of the CPC since December 2004.
Guo served as secretary of the Tibet Autonomous Regional Committee of the CPC from October 2000 to December 2004.
