China's top legislator Wu Bangguo issued letters of appointment to seven members of the Basic Law Committee of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR) and Macao SAR on Tuesday.
The Basic Law Committee of the Hong Kong SAR, consisting of 12 members, and The Basic Law Committee of the Macao SAR, consisting of 10 members, are subordinate bodies of the Standing Committee of the Chinese National People's Congress (NPC) or China's top legislature.
Leung Oi-sie, deputy director of the Basic Law Committee of the Hong Kong SAR, Li Fei, deputy director of the Basic Law Committee of the Hong Kong SAR (also deputy director of the Basic Law Committee of the Macao SAR), were among the members who received the appointment letters Tuesday.
Other members included Wang Fengchao, Wang Zhenmin, Zhang Xiaoming, Rao Geping from Hong Kong and Xu Ze from Macao.
