Yu Youjun, 53, was elected governor of north China's Shanxi Province at the 4th plenary meeting of the 10th Shanxi Provincial People's Congress Sunday.
Yu, a native of Fengxian county in east China's Jiangsu Province, joined the Communist Party of China (CPC) in 1976. He previously served as vice governor and acting governor of Shanxi since July 2005.
The 4th plenary meeting of the 10th Shanxi Provincial People's Congress also elected Zhang Baoshun as chairman of the 10th Standing Committee of the Shanxi Provincial People's Congress on Sunday.
Zhang, a native of Qinhuangdao city in north China's Hebei Province, joined the CPC in 1971. He once served as the governor of Shanxi, deputy secretary and member of the Standing Committee of CPC Shanxi Provincial Committee.
