Thousands of young people paraded through Hong Kong's downtown area on Sunday afternoon as part of serial celebrations marking the 10th anniversary of the region's return to China.
The youth, from more than 200 youth groups, started the parade at Victoria Park in the center of the city and marched through the busy Causeway Bay area. They also sang, danced and performed dragon dances as they marched, attracting many curious onlookers.
A gala performance was held after the parade arrived at its destination, the Hong Kong Stadium. Pianist Lang Lang, singer Leo Ku and the pop group Twins were just some of the acts who performed.
The parade organizer said Hong Kong youth groups would hold a number of events around China's Youth Day on May 4 every year to promote national pride and a positive outlook among young people.
