Seven people were dead and another was seriously injured after a minibus collided with a truck in southwest China's Guizhou Province on Saturday morning, local police said.

The accident occurred at about 10:00 AM in Duyun City in the Buyi and Miao Autonomous Prefecture of Qiannan when a minibus carrying eight people crashed head-on into a heavily-laden truck licensed in neighboring Sichuan Province.

The collision killed six people in the minibus on the spot and another died later in hospital. The injured passenger in the minibus was in a critical condition, said rescuers.

Police found that the truck, with a cargo capacity of 4.95 tons, was carrying 16 tons of goods when the accident took place.
