On April 20, the opening ceremony of The National IPR Week 2007 was held in Beijing.

Jiang Zengwei, Director of the State Office of Intellectual Property Protection(SOIPP) and Vice Minister of the Ministry of Commerce addressed the ceremony.

He pointed out that, the publicity of intellectual property knowledge is a basic work of IPR protection which is an important guarantee of building an innovative country.

In order to publicize '4.26 World Intellectual Property Day', Chinese government has held relevant activities to enhance the social awareness of IPR protection and create a good environment for independent innovation and opening up since 2004.

In 2007, the National Working Group for IPR Protection will hold China High-level Forum on Intellectual Property Rights Protection with the topic of 'IPR protection and enterprise competitiveness on April 24 in Beijing.

Moreover, various activities such as news conference, knowledge contest and enterprises forum will be held in other provinces in China. China.org.cn,CCTV, BTV, People's Daily, Xinhua and other media will report the IPR Week across the country.

Zhao Fengtong, Vice Mayor of Beijing introduced the achievements of IPR industry. 2007 is a key year for preparation of Olympic Games, and a special action has been launched to ensure the success of Olympic Games.
