Late Lo Tak Shing, Member of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), was laid to rest here Thursday amid his family and friends' tears and grief.
People from all works of society paid their last respect to Lo Tak Shing and extended their condolence to his family after Lo's passing away.
The United Front Work Department of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR), Committee for Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Compatriots and Overseas Chinese of the CPPCC National Committee, and other institutions expressed condolence on Lo's death via telegrams or letters in recent days.
Lo was an outstanding public figure, renowned patriot, and member of the law society of Hong Kong, according to an official obituary.
As former president of the Law Society of Hong Kong, Lo had conducted a distinguished career in law, business, publishing and public services. He had contributed to Hong Kong's smooth return to the motherland in his various capacities as a member of the Preparatory Committee of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, a vice chairman of the Basic Law Consultative Committee, and a Hong Kong Affairs adviser.
