Two more miners have been rescued from Tuesday's coal mine flood in northeast China's Liaoning Province and rescuers are searching for the one miner still missing, according to a local government official.

Eight miners were trapped by a flood on Tuesday at the privately-owned Dahenan Colliery in Dengta City, 50 kilometers south of the provincial capital Shenyang. Altogether seven miners have been rescued.

Rescuers broke through the collapsed tunnel and found the two miners at around 7:50 PM, said Shang Chunjie, the head of the city's coal production administration.

"Fortunately, both are in a fairly good physical condition. Actually, they walked out the tunnel by themselves," said Shang. "We hope the last missing miner is still OK."

The accident occurred at 10:50 AM on Tuesday. Three of the miners managed to escape the pit by themselves and two others were saved in the search-and-rescue operation that began within 30 minutes of the accident being reported, said Shang.

Surging demand for winter coal has spurred production but also caused a string of deadly accidents.

In one of the most recent tragedies, a colliery flood killed six miners and left two missing in southwestern Guizhou Province on Sunday.

On Monday, 25 people were confirmed dead and nine others missing in a deadly coal mine fire in north China's coal-rich Shanxi Province.
