Dense fog on Monday halted traffic at a key airport in southwest China's Chongqing Municipality, diverting or delaying more than 100 flights, the airport administration said.
More than 60 flights at Jiangbei International Airport were delayed as a result of the heavy fog that began to envelop Chongqing in the early Monday morning, the airport's administration said.
Some 50 flights were compelled to land at several neighboring airports due to a low visibility of 30 to 50 meters at the airport.
The airport resumed normal operation after noon when the fog began to disperse, according to airport officials.
Several local expressways which were closed due to the fog reopened in the afternoon.
