More Support Urged for Anti-poverty Program
Adjust font size:

China's top adviser Jia Qinglin said Friday that more supportive measures should be adopted and more favorable circumstances created to support the Guangcai Program, a poverty alleviation project.

Jia, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), made the remarks when meeting with the representatives of the China Guangcai Program attending a conference in Beijing.

Initiated by the Chinese private enterprisers for alleviating poverty, the program has been mainly implemented by those from the non-public sector, especially private enterprises.

"The program has made important contributions to the reduction of poverty and the building of a well-off society in China," said Jia, who is also a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee.

The scientific concept of development should be adopted to promote the program so that it can play a further role in the construction of the country, he said.
