The Hong Kong Gifts and Premium Fair will begin at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center on Saturday and continue till next Tuesday.

The fair, a leading event of its kind in Asia, has gained a strong reputation as a platform for new business opportunities over its more than two decades of existence.

"The fair gives us a great chance to release new products to customers," said C.K. Kwok, marketing manager of Semk Products Ltd.

"We are pleased with the support of the fair organizers and their promotional efforts, as well as the decoration of the fairground," he added.

Steve Slagle, president of Promotional Products Association International praised the "well-organized, impressive and great" fair.

"The scope of products and exhibitors is very good, and it represents a job well done by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), organizers of the fair," said Slagle. "Our association members always come here because they can find something new every time."

The 2007 edition of the event is set to keep up this trend, featuring more than 4,200 booths displaying a broad array of exhibits, organizers said.

In particular, two new zones introduced in 2006 Kids' World and Ladies' Gifts & Premium were highly appreciated by visitors and are expected to continue their success this year.

With people attaching increasing importance to their children's healthy growth, there has been a boom in the children's gifts sector, fair organizers said.

The Kids' World zone will present a wide range of children's gift items, ranging from the traditional to the hi-tech and from the entertaining to the educational, they added.

Meanwhile, with the demand for gifts for women on the rise in global markets, the exhibition section of Ladies Gift & Premium, packed with interesting items including the decorative and the functional, is expected to remain another popular attraction at the upcoming fair.

"This specialized section for ladies' items makes it even more effective in reaching our target customers," said Kenny Park, marketing manager of Genex Company

In addition, leading designer companies will showcase their collections in the Hall of Fine Designs, amid an environment reflecting the premium nature of the products.

In order to facilitate participation, the organizers have opened an official website http://hkgiftspremiumfair.com, where convenient services will be available.

With just a click, buyers can preview exhibits, locate exhibitor booths and collect complete supplier details prior to the trade fair, while sellers can apply for pre-registration via the online service.

Further, VIP buyers and Cathay Pacific business or first-class passengers can access the Dragon Lounge at the fair, which offers a range of facilities like complimentary snacks and beverages, reading materials and private meeting rooms.

Visitors to the Hong Kong Gifts & Premium Fair will be able to gain from even more sourcing opportunities, with two other events the Hong Kong International Printing and Packaging Fair and the Hong Kong International Auto Parts Fair slated to be held concurrently at AsiaWorld-Expo.

Complimentary shuttle bus services will be offered to visitors to enable easy access to all the three events. There will be two shuttle routes - one running from Hong Kong International Airport to AsiaWorld-Expo and Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center; the other from Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center to AsiaWorld-Expo.

Buses on both routes will run at regular intervals from morning to late afternoon.
