The 10th China International Machine Tool Show (CIMT 2007), one of the four most important events for the world machine tool industry, will be held from 9 to 15 April, 2007 at China Beijing International Exhibition Center, Beijing.

Sponsored by the China Machine Tool and Tool Builders' Association (CMTBA), the CIMT 2007 is expected to cover an exhibition area of 72,000 square meters, with the participation of 1,100 exhibitors from 28 countries and regions and the demonstration of state-of-the-art machine tools, CMTBA said.

The biennial event is one that professionals and trade buyers from the industry cannot afford to miss. Noted enterprises and associations dealing in machine tools, measures and accessories, both from home and abroad, will participate in the show.

Overseas companies will account for more than 50 percent of the total number of exhibitors.

They include Schleifring and DMG from Germany, MAG, Haas Automation, Gleason from the United States, Mori Seiki, Amada, Okuma, Mazak from Japan, Doosan Daewoo and Kia from the Republic of Korea, and Agie Charmilles from Switzerland. Enterprises from Italy and the United Kingdom will also be represented.

In addition to displaying the latest technology from the countries and regions taking part, "Made-in-China" machines and materials will be specially highlighted in the show.

Renowned domestic enterprises such as Shenyang Machine Tool Group, Dalian Machine Tool Group, Shanghai Machine Tool Group and Jinan No 2 Machine Tool Group will display their latest products.

The strong presence of both international and Chinese suppliers in CIMT 2007 marks the uniqueness of the fair in presenting a large variety of high to low-end products and services for overseas and Chinese buyers and trade visitors.

In line with the principle of "technological exchange, cooperation, trade expansion, and co-development", the exhibition's theme is "seeking creative and win-win development", which ties into a series of industrial activities.

The continuing rapid development of China's economy and the Central government's determination to rejuvenate the nation's equipment and manufacturing industry have injected enormous momentum into the machine tool market in China, drawing hosts of participants to the show.

"The participation in this year's expo is extremely enthusiastic. We have to coordinate the huge number of the entries with the limited show space to offer an excellent industrial gala to participants from home and aboard," said a source from the organizers.

Reputed history

Since 1989, when the first CIMT expo was inaugurated in Shanghai, the event has been staged once every two years, with nine editions held to date.

Over the past 17 years, the expo has developed into the largest international machinery equipment show in the nation.

According to CMTBA statistics, up to the last session in April 2005 at the China International Exhibition Center in Beijing, the expo received 1.6 million visitors and created a volume of business worth 10 billion yuan. A total of 8,600 enterprises have participated in various editions of the show to demonstrate tens of thousands of machine tools and hundreds of thousands of various tools and accessories.

The association said about 30 countries and regions on average would send delegations and enterprises to the expo every year.
