Consumers More Confident in 2nd Quarter, Statistics Show

China's consumer confidence index in the second quarter is 94 points, the same as the first quarter, according to a report released by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) on Friday.

The report shows the consumer confidence index in April, May and June was 93.8, 93.8 and 94.1 points respectively, compared with 94.2 points in March.

The consumer satisfaction index, an indicator measuring consumers' satisfaction to current economic performance, in April, May and June is 89.9, 90.1 and 90 points respectively, compared with 90.4 points in March.

The report shows the consumer expectation index, an indicator measuring consumers' expectations of future economic performance, in April, May and June is 96.4, 96.3 and 96.8 points respectively, compared with 96.7 points in March.

In June, 65 percent of Chinese consumers expected their individual or household income would remain the same or increase, and nearly 60 percent thought the country's economy would grow steadily in the upcoming year.
