Total profits for China's electronic information sector reached 45.1 billion yuan (US$5.6 billion) in the first five months, up 34 percent year on year and 8.5 percentage points higher than the industry's average growth rate, according to the Ministry of Information Industry.
Rising sales and exports mainly contributed to the profits growth. The sales-output ratio of electronic information sector in the first five months reached 97.6 percent, while sales revenue jumped by 31.8 percent from 1.04 trillion yuan (US$129.75 billion) in the same period last year.

Export patterns of color televisions had changed with LCD and plasma-screen color sets, rather than traditional cathode-ray tube sets, being the main driver of exports. Exports of LCD and plasma-screen sets totaled US$1.12 billion, up 147 percent over the same period last year.
