The Beijing Protestant Church

The Beijing Protestant Church is located at 181 Dongdanbei Street, at the former headquarters of the YMCCA set up by the American Protestant Church in1925. The two-story church, built in traditional Western style, was first known as the Bible Society.

In 1958, more than 60 Protestant denominations were represented in Beijing. In that year, following a series of consultative conferences, four churches were selected to serve as centers for Protestant worship: in the western quarter at Zhushikou; in the northern quarter at Kuanjie; in the eastern quarter at Dongdanbei Street.
