The National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), China' s top advisory body, will continue its external exchange maneuvers in the future to help "create a more favorable international environment" for the country's reform, opening up and modernization drive.
"The CPPCC National Committee will continue to actively develop its friendly exchanges with foreign parliaments, international organizations, as well as non-governmental organizations," said Wu Jianmin, spokesman for the upcoming annual session of the CPPCC National Committee, at a press briefing here on Thursday.
"The external exchanges of the CPPCC is an important part of China's overall diplomacy, and the CPPCC enjoys its unique advantages in promoting friendly cooperation and exchanges between the Chinese people and people in the rest of the world," said Wu, who himself was a seasoned diplomat.
The CPPCC National Committee is to convene its annual session here from Friday.
Wu said in 2005, the CPPCC National Committee had focused on high-level external exchanges, featured by its Chairman Jia Qinglin's successful visits to four Latin American nations -- Mexico, Cuba, Colombia and Uruguay.
The CPPCC National Committee also successfully hosted the 21st Century Forum's 2005 Conference in Beijing, at which domestic and foreign participants carried out in-depth discussions about the sustainable development for both China and the world, said the spokesman.
"The conference has helped promote China's multilateral diplomacy, and has helped more foreign friends better understand China's pursuit of a peaceful and scientific development," Wu noted.
