Former Chairman Stephen Wong Wang-sang of publicly listed Skyworth Digital Holdings Limited kept a low profile at the ongoing annual session of the top advisory body but reveals his plans to visit electric appliances markets and some business partners in Beijing.

Wong, 48, is a member of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC). The advisory body opened its annual full session on Thursday.

Local Beijing News reported Friday that Wong declined to disclose any progress about the accusations of the Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) against him, which charged him with allegedly misappropriating company funds. The case also involved Skyworth Digital's former executive director Wong Pui-sing, 37.

The Beijing-based newspaper said Wong Wang-sang took a direct flight to Beijing Thursday after he got the greenlight to leave Hong Kong, without attending a welcoming ceremony his former peers had prepared for him at the company headquarters in Shenzhen, the boom city neighboring Hong Kong.

Wong is reportedly "very happy" to attend the top advisory session in the national capital, but kept himself away the spotlight as much as he could.

The report also said Wong's lawyer, 53-year-old Andrew Lam Ping-cheung, is one of the four Hong Kong-based solicitors arrested Thursday for the allegedly conspiracy to pervert the course of public justice in relation to ICAC's corruption investigation last year.

A Skyworth spokesman said the company is unaware of the arrest, but said it does not have anything to do with Wong's case.
