Yi Jianlian's double-double with a game-high 26 points and 14
rebounds led the Guangdong Southern Tigers to a 109-78 home victory
over the Shanghai Sharks. This was their 11th straight win, which
wrap up the regular champions with five rounds still to play.
Zhu Fangyu notched 24 points. Du Feng netted 20 points with
grabbing 11 rebounds and Greene Terrence had in the win for the
Southern Tigers, who have won 34 of their past 37 games.
Wang Sizhang paced Shanghai with 16 points. Wang Ligang chipped
in 13 points and Okosa Reggie added 11 points in defeat. All-star
point guard Liu Wei only ended in 2 points and one assist. Shanghai
has won 18, lost 19 games this season and ranked fifth in the South
Division, trailing the Yunnan Bulls, who have won 20 of 37
games.
In Yunnan, Smith Jon's slam-dunk with 3.9 seconds to go in the
last period helped the Bulls survive the Bayi Rockets' dramatic
scare. The Bulls won 110-109. Smith Jon had 38 points and collected
9 rebounds. Zhang Jinsong led Bayi with 30 points while Li Nan
didn't play due to injury.
In other games, Liaoning won over the host Shaanxi 115-113,
Fujian downed Zhejiang 96-81, Dongguan was outplayed by Jiangsu
117-114. Beijing, Xinjiang won their games against Henan and Jilin
respectively.
