Winner of Academy Award Joins Beijing's Bid Efforts
Tan Dun, winner of an Academy Award for his sound track to the Ang Lee film "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon," arrived at BOBICO office Tuesday to help the bid team make a promotional film. BOBICO Vice President Jiang Xiaoyu spoke with Tan Dun and awarded him a certificate for his contribution to Beijing's Olympic bid.
  
A graduate of Beijing's Central Conservatory and Columbia University in New York, the leading orchestras and ensembles of our time play Tan Dun's music throughout the world. Mr. Tan's award-winning opera, 'Marco Polo' was commissioned by the Edinburgh Festival and premiered at the Munich Biennale in 1996. It was named "Opera of the Year" by the noted German magazine Oper. New York Times named him as one of the top ten musicians in the world in 2000.

BOBICO Vice President Jiang Xiaoyu welcomed Tan Dun's participation in the bid work, saying his contribution will be significant at the critical stage of the bid process. (26/6/2001)
