Last 14 Taiwan tourists trapped in Wenchuan County rescued
Nearly 3,000 tourists from Taiwan were trapped in Sichuan after the quake. The Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, and the National Tourism Administration have been coordinating with the Army, and most are now safe. On Sunday, the last 14 Taiwan tourists trapped in Wenchuan County were rescued.
Over 20 foreign tourists transferred out of Wenchuan by helicopters
The Chengdu Military Area Command has evacuated over 20 foreign tourists from Wenchuan. It was the first time they used helicopters to transfer quake victims out of the danger zone.
Roads to worst-hit areas resumed
Roads to areas worst hit by the quake have all resumed traffic after repairs. This will speed up the delivery of disaster relief materials. The railway and civilian aviation departments are also ready to transport relief materials and injured people.
Foreign ambassadors express condolences
Foreign ambassadors and diplomatic envoys have gone to the Chinese Foreign Ministry to pay their respects to the victims of the Sichuan earthquake.
