A sailor was rescued after having been trapped inside a capsized
boat for 11 hours, said a source with the Chinese Ministry of
Communications on Tuesday.
The sailor was rescued by an emergency response team from the
ministry's East China Sea Salvage Bureau and sent to a hospital for
treatment in Shanghai, said the source, without giving the name of
the sailor.
The body of another trapped sailor was also salvaged by the
team.
According to the source, the boat anchored at the Chongming
Dongwang water area near the mouth of the Yangtze River suddenly
capsized and then turned over at around 4 AM on Tuesday,
trapping two of the seven sailors on board.
Two sailors were rescued by passing ships and two were still
trapped in the boat, with three missing, said the source, adding
that the search and rescue effort for the missing ones is still
under way.
