Beijing Seizes 200 Kg of Drugs in Past Six Months
Adjust font size:

Beijing has seized nearly 200 kg of drugs in the past two months, a senior police officer said on Friday.

Between April 1 and May 20, police captured 400 suspects and cracked 300 drug-related cases, said Tang Li, deputy director of the Drug Control Department with the Beijing Municipal Public Security Bureau.

The drugs came mainly from the southern province of Guangdong, southwestern provinces of Yunnan, Guizhou, and Sichuan, and Gansu Province in the northwest, Tang said.

Of these, drugs from Guangdong and Yunnan accounted for 70 percent of the total amount confiscated in Beijing, he said.

In a latest case on April 28, Beijing police seized 9.5 kg of clothes soaked in liquid heroin at a freight station.

It is the first time that local police have discovered "drug clothes," Tang said.

Two suspects, one surnamed Li and the other called Ziwanguli Yiming, have been arrested in the case, he said.
