One hundred and twelve primary school students on Friday
suffered food poisoning in Kunming, capital of southwest China's Yunnan Province, local health authorities said
on Saturday.
The students are now out of danger, doctors said.
The incident occurred on Friday noon in Xinjie Primary School in
Songhua Township of Panlong District. One hundred and twelve
students showed symptoms of dizziness, vomiting and stomachache
after having lunch at their school canteen.
Forty-six of them were in serious condition and were sent to a
nearby hospital in Aziying Town in Songming County for medical
treatment.
All of them are out of danger, but one has been transferred to
Panlong District Hospital for further treatment, a doctor said.
The four cooks of the school canteen do not have certificates,
and some students' parents believed that unsanitary cooking should
be blamed for the incident.
Investigation into the cause of the incident is under way, saida
local health official.
