Barn Collapse Kills 10 in Shandong

Ten people have been confirmed dead in a barn collapse accident that occurred on April 1 in Tengzhou City of east China's Shandong Province, local government sources said Thursday.

The barn with steel structure was owned by a starch plant of Dongguo Town in the city, which collapsed at around 12:00 AM last Saturday, burying 13 workers.

As of 8:00 AM Thursday, ten of them were confirmed dead after emergency rescue treatment failed. And three others survived and were out of life danger, according to the local government.

Officials of the provincial administration of work safety rushed to the accident site to deal with the rescue and compensation affairs. Investigation into the cause of the collapse is underway.
