Four people were killed when the Nissan sedan car they were
traveling on hit a truck on Monday on an expressway in east China's
Zhejiang Province, local traffic police said on Tuesday.
The accident occurred at around 4:00 AM on a 145-km
expressway linking the provincial capital Hangzhou to the nearby
city of Ningbo.
The local traffic police headquarters suspected the accident was
caused by fatigue drive, as the sedan car crashed into the 10-ton
container truck without realizing the front vehicle had come to a
halt in a traffic jam caused by heavy fog.
Heavy fog paralyzed traffic on the expressway Sunday night and
Monday morning, and the traffic didn't return to normal until
midday.
Investigators said the sedan driver, surnamed Xu, was a native
of Yueqing City, Zhejiang Province, and was taking three of his
relatives to Shanghai.
