Nation Bans Inflow of Polluted Nestle Milk
Adjust font size:

Swiss food maker Nestle's contaminated baby milk is not allowed to be taken or sent to China, said sources with the state quality watchdog on Friday.

China's General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine said that those products, if found inside the country, will be seized and destroyed.

It also confirmed after its probe that China had not imported any of these tainted products so far.

Nestle (China) announced Wednesday that none of the recalled products had been sold on the Chinese market.

Nestle said Tuesday that it had recalled more than 2 million liters of baby milk found to be contaminated with the chemical substance is opropylthioxanthone (ITX) from Italy, Spain, France and Portugal.

Most of the milk is in Italy, where about 30 million liters were seized after tests showed some of it had been tainted by ITX from printing ink on the packaging.
