Known as a popular site for science education, the Inner Mongolia Science and Technology Museum features exhibition halls showcasing the magic of exploration, discovery and creativity, as well as smart spaces and children's parks, to help bring visitors closer to the worlds of science and technology.

Located on Xinhua Main Street, Xincheng District, Hohhot City, the Museum is right behind the newly-built Inner Mongolia Museum. Covering about 1792.3 square meters, the building itself is impressive as its architectures ingeniously combines the shape of a horse, hada (a narrow scarf made of silk as the symbol of friendship and fraternity) and seemingly endless dunes.

Duan Wenxuan, the head docent of the museum, explains, “Our museum has 10 different themed exhibition halls. The museum was opened to the public on September 20, 2016, with its number of visitors reaching one million last year. Each themed exhibition hall has its unique features and significance. Visitors can keep abreast of the latest in China's science and technology in our museum. "

Upon entering the museum, the attention of visitors is grabbed by a special effects theater, one of the first floor’s stand-out attractions. The museum is actually home to three special effects theaters: a giant digital 3D theater, a digital dome theater and a 4D dynamic theater.

Inside the digital 3D theater, visitors can enjoy watching films on a huge screen spanning 23 meters in width and 16 meters in height, a rare luxury for most commercial cinemas.

On the second floor, the Mongolian Medicine Exhibition Hall is one of the museum’s highlights. "Our museum is the only one both at home and abroad to exhibit Mongolian medicine and its culture," Duan said.
